Hi and welcome to attadrink!
A quick word about me. Am I a bartender? No, I’m just a cocktail enthusiast!
I’m often asked where my passion for cocktails and for bartending in general comes from and why a blog about it. Well, a couple of years ago, I was going out a lot with my friends (I still do). One day, I realized I truly came alive in certain particular bars watching their bartenders working, admiring the precision of their every gestures, wondering at their knowledge and creativity. Going out was not only about having fun with my friends anymore. It was about talking with bartenders, asking questions to learn more about their trade.
I’ve always been a foodie and I love cooking, discovering new flavours and creating new recipes. Cocktails is one expression of flavour combining, albeit a liquid one. So I guess it was natural I started developing an interest in this form of “liquid cuisine”. My thirst (pun totally intended) for knowledge and enthusiasm about this special universe became such that I traveled to Amsterdam, London and Barcelona to attend bartending schools and now I travel to attend conferences here and there to learn about new concerns of the trade: sustainability, health, creativity, innovative ways to provide an always better hospitality service.
As I like writing (I work as a communications officer in Geneva, Switzerland) and sharing travel recommendations (mostly about bars and restaurants), I decided to record what I learn and discover about the cocktail culture and bartending scene and make it available through a blog to amateurs like me. This is how attadrink came to be.
Have fun reading my posts and let me know what you think of them using the comments section or the contact form!
